Monstrous Summer

For the launch of Monsters University, Disneyland, California Adventure and Magic Kingdom were staying open for 24 hours. Since scream canisters provide the primary source of energy for Monstropolis, we thought we’d harness that power for our event. We asked guests to send in their screams to help us. From scare pranks to screams on roller coasters, Disney fans delivered and helped power the event into a huge success.

Visitors who want to donate a scream to the cause can watch screamspiration videos of thrill rides at Disney Parks. Or Mike and Sully will gladly try out one of their monstrous scare tactics.

Each guest's video was collected in a special scream canister and placed in the vault.

As more screams are collected (scream videos donated and watched), scream canisters will begin to stack up around Mike and Sully, and the Scream-Meter will rise closer to the goal.

Once we collected enough screams, the Magic Kingdom was powered for the full 24-hour event!
